NY-style Slices a Big Deal

This week J. Gold examines the new Santa Monica outpost of New York’s Joe’s Pizza. The arrival of Joe’s has made something of a splash already (ThrillistThe Rundown, Metromix), because as Gold points out:

“Los Angeles, far from a pizza desert, has long been a center of great pie. […] What we haven’t had was a great slice, no matter how hard places like Mulberry Street, Lamonica’s and Nicky D’s may have tried.”
Hear, hear. I actually had the chance to try Joe’s a couple weeks ago, but it was delivered, so I didn’t get the true slice-right-out-of-the-oven experience.
