Deceased filmmaker and blogger Theresa Duncan created two blog entries before committing suicide that she scheduled to publish after her death. One went up around Halloween, another (her last) went up on New Year’s Eve.
The posts are, as usual, poetic, clever, arcane. It’s rather haunting to think that a person so close to taking her own life would also look so far ahead. And yet, on some level, I can’t help but admire her imagination.
I’ve called Theresa and Jeremy’s suicides tragic before, and their story really sticks in my head. We all have our demons, and sadly it seems those who suffer theirs most acutely are often among the the brightest, the most creative, the most expressive.
I imagine this will be my final Theresa Duncan/Jeremy Blake post, so I’ve rounded some previous entries: LAO, LAT, Wit, LA Weekly, LAT, NYO, LAT, NY Mag and Vanity Fair.
